Softball

My favorite hobby is playing softball. I played fastpitch softball and it is totaly amazing. There are a total of nine players on the field at all times. The pitcher has to pitch underhand. The game is fairly easy to understand and play. Of course, the team who scores the most runs wins.

Since the age of 7 I have participated in several leagues playing softball. My dad was the one who pushed me to play softball because he thought it would keep me out of trouble later on. This was especially true since I had my schedule jam packed with practice and games. Since my hometown did not have any leagues I had to enroll in a league that was half an hour away. Every day after school I would come home and get all my equipment and head off to Corpus Christi. I did this same routine for about 7 years. I have traveled all over Texas to play in tournaments and even traveled to Illinois to play in a national tournament.

By then, I was getting ready to enter high school. I always wanted to play varsity in high school so this was the most exciting thing for me about going to high school. Well my freshman year I tried out and I made the varsity team. That year I was a playing all over the field. I started out at third base but when our first baseman was injured, I was moved to first base. Every now and then I would be placed in the outfield and pitched. By the middle of the season, I was just considered a utility player. The following year I played third base and pitched when I needed to. After that, I stayed playing third base and was awarded several different awards. Both my Junior and Senior year we made it to playoffs and advanced all the way to the "Sweet Sixteen". That was the farthest in our school history the softball team made it.

Softball is not only a sport to me, it was pretty much my life. I really enjoy doing this because it is fun and I have met a lot of people through it. My best friends today I met through playing this sport.I have also learned a lot of life lessons while playings. Now a day, I will just go out to the park and throw the ball with friends. It is a good way to stay in shape and relieve some stress.I highly recommend you try it out sometime :)

Things you will need to play
  1. plenty of softballs
  2. a glove
  3. a bat
  4. a bunch of friends
    Injuries while playing
  • When I first started to play, I once got hit it the eye. I had two black eyes for like a week and had to go to school like that.At school they even called me into the office to ask what had happend.
  • Later on, I was pitching and I didn't react fast enough and got hit straight on my leg. I had a bruise for like two weeks.
  • In high school, we used metal cleats and a girl slid into my leg and cut me. I still have a scar from that.
These are just some of the girls I played with in high school. I think this was my Sophomore year. When we made it to playoffs after every win, we would roll the coaches' houses at night. This was after we had "rolled" one of the coaches' house.
This was at my house. We were getting ready to go roll.
