LOWER LEFT LOWER RIGHT

Reading has been a leisure activity for me for many years. Eversince I opened my first book, my imagination soured as high as the sky. Through books such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Eragon these books not only open my imagination but also to the mythical archetypes presented in history by each individual character. Such as in Harry Potter, Harry is seen as a savior-like figure something like Jesus where he riskes his life in order to save his friends and family. In The Lord of the Rings, Gandalf is seen as archetypical figure of a wise counselor who's knowlegdge and wisdom helps his friends from trouble. And obviosuly, Eragon is the archetypical figure who becomes a great warrior from humble beginnings.

My favorite book has to be The Lord of the Rings. Not only was the movie incredible, but the amount of detail that Jrr. Tolkien expressed on his book was absolutely astounding. The characters all reflect age-old archetypes found in literature, but they also represent many figures from the Christian Church. Frodo is seen as a Christ-like figure who sacrifises who bears the weight of the ring (symbolizing man's sins) and sacrifising his very life in order to destroy the one ring. Saruman who is seen as Judas who succumbs to sin and betrays his friends in servitude towards the dark lord. Gandalf is also seen as a Christ-like figure who comes back to life after his battle with the fire-demon, which is ultimately represents as Christ's resurrection.

In all reading is one of my most favorite hobbies to do while I am bored. Reading has opened my interest into the development of human civilizations and human thought through the ages. For in every book you read, it reflects the attitudes and customs of the society of the day. All books either fiction or non-fiction give a most valuable insight into the depth of human ingenuity to always reach higher through our imaginations. In a way reading makes human civilization progress into the future.
