1786:
The idea of the Difference Engine, a computer able to compute polynomial functions, is conceived.
1822:
Difference Engine is designed by Charles Babbage
1833:
The first computer, the Analyticial Engine, is concieved.
1837:
Charles Babbage designs the first programmable computer, The Analytical Engine.
1842-1843:
Ada Lovelace becomes the first computer programmer by programming The Analyticial Engine
1873:
First typewriter invented

Lee De Forest invents the vacuum tube
1938:
Germanys Konrad Zuse creates the Z1, one of the first binary digital computers and a machine that could be controlled through a punch tape.
1939:
Hewlett-Packard Company is established. It would eventually grow to be the largest technology company.

Iowa State Colleges John Vincent Atanasoff and Clifford Berry complete the binary-based ABC (Atanasoft-Berry Computer), the first machine to calculate using vacuum tubes

First complex calculator George Stibitz completes the Complex Number Calculator capable of being accessed from limted remote locations
