Course Objectives:
This course is designed to help you build and improve your communication skills as a member of a group. SpCom 100B will introduce you to speech communication on both a practical and a conceptual level. My objectives for this course are:
- To assist you in understanding the dynamics of small group communication
- To provide you with an opportunity to improve your communication skills in a non-threatening, supportive environment
- To assist you in gaining critical thinking skills
Required Textbook:
Effective Group Discussion, 10th ed. by Brilhart, Galanes, & Adams (2001).
Requirements and grading:
Grades will be calculated as follows:
Exam:
Monday, July 30 (area: topics covered
in weeks 1-5) see Exam Review
page for more details.

The exam will be closed book and comprehensive.
Analysis Paper:
This paper will be due: July 25 in class
