The regions of South Australia produce many different kinds of wine due largely in part to the varied terrain and climate. South Australia produces almost half of Austarlia's wine with 45.2%, they are follwed by New South Wales at 34.1%, and Victoria, the country's third largest producer, at a mere 15.6%.

There are 17 different wine making regions in South Australia. There are the cold mountains for light crisp whites, the rich hilly soils for bold dark reds, and earthy clay rocky areas perfect for growing Shiraz and Malbec, Australia's most famous varietals. It is essential to have a varied climate as well. South Australia not only has a varied climate , but it also has humidity coupled with hearty soil making it ideal for all differnt kinds of wines.
