The
history of fingerprints goes back to the chinese 3,000 years.
They used fingerprints as a form of signature for legal
documents. In 1880 Henry Fauld published an article where he
discussed the discovery that human fingerprints have a unique pattern.
In other words no two individuals have the same fingerprint
pattern. And finally Sir Francis Galton put fingerprints into
three catergories; loops, arches and whorls. Based on these
categories Sir Edwards Henry developed another classification system
which the F.B.I. still uses today.
