It all started the day I had to leave to college. There were so many
mixed feelings inside me ranging from happiness, excitement to sad and
confused. I’m positive that what I was going through was
exactly the same thing that other students were experiencing as well. I
was really scared that I wasn’t going to fit in and feel
welcomed. So therefore I had to rely on other things to keep me
distracted from all these mixed emotions. I tried meeting new people, I
tried going out, but nothing was as before. I used to hang out with
girls but I felt that here at St. Edwards I wasn’t bonding
with any of them. It was hard for me, especially since I am really
close mind and everything going on around me made me decided to go back
to my country and continue my college studies in Honduras. After two
weeks of being in Austin I called a friend from Honduras who is also
studying at St. Edwards University I was hopeing thing would change for
me.
My friend decided to take me to his
friend place, which ended up being a big group of guys. At first I
didn’t like the idea that it was only guys and me, all they
would do was play Xbox, talk about sports and all the usual things guys
do. I felt I didn’t have a choices, I was hating the idea of
hanging out with guys only I would usually sit down and see them play,
it wasn't fun at all but what choice did I have if I was to shy to even
talk to them. One day I decided it was time for me to act and asked
them to play, they didn’t mind at all, the idea that I was
going to be playing which was a suprise for me and as suprising as that
was for me another thing happened I ended up being such a good player.
My first round was with a game called Call of Duty I won ever battle
that was vrs any of the guys. It felt good, since that moment I knew I
would fit in and the ice was broken between them and myself.
Who would ever imagined that I was going
to end up loving Xbox? For me that was a boy game and a game that makes
you your loose time. Now I think of it as the way I made my friends. It
not only made me bond with my new friends but with my brothers as well.
I have two younger brothers that are always playing and I know they
love to play against me. This also makes me spend more time with them
then what I usually do. Such a small and silly thing like an Xbox made
changed so many things around me.
